So after I bought the car at 11pm into a Walmart parking lot the gf decided she would drive it to work. I showed up this morning and snagged the car from her to go give it a bath. After the much needed car wash, I was at the gas station and the car wouldn’t start. Just that good ole click noise letting you know your battery is going to sleep for good.
My gf even backed that big catfish booty in for bonus points when she got to work.. #wifeystatus
Ended up snagging a new battery for 1 hundred and she fired right up. Took it back to the gf work and rode the grom home to give you oppo’s this live report.
Regardless $2600 for a running and driving LS1 T56 Camaro z28 with a/c is a steal. Even with the $100 battery...
Anyone want to take bets on how long it takes before the car has a heads cam swap ?

Obvious question... is it charging correctly? As in, did you check the alternator?

Walmart battery? Because free replacement.

Came to say this. Seems like a pretty big coincidence for the battery to die within 24hrs of ownership.

2600 + 100 battery is a steal

Nice grab, man. Although I’m sad to see that Datsun go. How many miles are on the new Z?

This as well - my Dad has a LS1 Vette and the alternator died with many fewer miles than your Camaro. I’d make sure that battery is getting charged properly.
If you get into alternator issues, this is a good read/reference.

Ain’t no step for a stepper. I bet those idler pulleys start squealing soon too. I’ve changed mine on the goat twice in year. Tempted to buy a “fancy” pulley set and see if they use better grease/bearings/seals.

It’s pretty odd driving the z28 compared to the Datassun. Even tho the LS1 t56 is practically the same set up that was in the datsun it’s a world apart. Shocking how building a car like the datassun and building each thing as you go eventually robs you of driving pleasure. For example the Datassun had a built T56 with a pro big dick shifter kit blah blah with a big cam heads blah blah and it never drove half as nice as this 200k mile F body. Needless to say I’m enjoying the new car .

If I sell my CB200 I think you may be right . May just turbo it and quit the bs.

Shows 13.5 on the gauge so I’d assume the alternator is in fact charging the battery.

We’ve had countless autozone pulley’s and tensioners go out on our LSX cars. We just try our best to stick to GM pulley’s & tensioners. Everything else your pretty set on going the cheap route.

I would have paid 4500 just to make the woman this happy without a car lol

I just haven’t gotten used to the whole pulling the heads/cams so nonchalantly like the LSX crowd seems to. I daily my beast so I’m leery of effecting driveability until I’m ready to install all my parts and get it dyno tuned.
